Joburg gives garden waste seven days
Roodepoort falls under the City of Johannesburg, whose Waste Management By-laws say garden waste must be removed and disposed of "within seven days" (or a reasonable time the City sets) at a facility the City determines, and that an official can ask for a weighbridge ticket as proof for bigger loads. A pile of prunings left on the verge for a month is exactly what the rule is aimed at.

How garden refuse is priced
Like everything we do, garden refuse is priced by the load — not by the hour — so you know the number up front:
- Small bakkie load (about 1 m³)from R650 – R900
- Half tipper-truck load (about 3 m³)R1,200 – R1,800
- Full tipper-truck load (about 6 m³)R2,000 – R3,500
Bulky branches take up more space than bagged leaves, so the volume is what drives the price — along with access and distance within Roodepoort.
